Truth: “But without faith, it is impossible to please God; for he that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

Friends it wasn’t so long ago that I was about to launch a new service for my coaching business that had proven to be successful through a multitude of beta testing. I was more than proud and excited for the anticipated success!

I couldn’t wait to launch this new service because I knew whole-heartedly that I could serve more women, free up more time in my business, make more money, AND spread the Gospel– like, sounds too good to be true, right??

RIGHT!

You see, I had spent months prepping for launch and planning all my pre-launch and post-launch content and doing #allthemarketingthings. It was the day before my email was about to drop to my list and all I had to do was push “schedule” and all my fancy systems and hard work would be set to “do its thing” but there was one problem: I COULDN’T push that dang schedule button!

It’s like the Holy Spirit came down and asked me straight-up: “Are you going to be happy now?” and all the conviction to pump the breaks on this promo hit me at once.

I felt the Lord saying “Well done, good and UNFAITHFUL servant. You did it all on your own. You didn’t even need Me!”

I buried my face in my hands and cried like a baby. (Ok fine, it was more like Kim Kardashian ugly crying but you get the picture.)

That “well done good and unfaithful servant” hurt bad and I didn’t understand how if:

  • this strategy was in line with my God-given business…
  • I was using my gifts, passion, and opportunity to build His Kingdom…
  • It was providing for our families financial needs
  • Nothing in of my marketing plan or message (or the client’s) appeared sinful

That this wasn’t being faithful!?

But it was in this loving conviction that I heard these truths from the Lord:

“But without faith, it is impossible to please God.”- Hebrews 11:6

(I did it all without faith, seeking, or needing Him–what glory is there in that??)

“Faith without works is dead.” -James 2:14-17

(I said I had faith, worked with women of faith, but I wasn’t actually USING my faith)

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the laborer builds in vain.” Psalms 127:1

(I was working FOR the Lord but not WITH the Lord and *I* built my “house”.)

And though I got major relief knowing that anything I did FOR Him wasn’t a waste of time or effort, it was in these truths that I realized I needed to be working WITH Him too.

It was in these truths that I finally repented for working in my own strength and making my own marketing strategies and laid it all down before Him.

It was in that moment that I realized my happiness wasn’t (and never would be) in any financial goal accomplishment or status quo achievement if I wasn’t growing my faith or seeking Him.

Faith + obedience = success, nothing else.

During those Kim K ugly tears, an idea (the ones I like to call a “divine burden” that you just can’t shake) resurfaced and I knew it was time to pursue with full faith.

And it was that very same day that I declared to pursue said idea, She Is Bold, and started sharing my vision with others.

It doesn’t make financial sense and it’s hella risky. But now? I’m after the “well done good and FAITHFUL servant”  letting Him lead the way one day at a time and my hope is that whatever that looks like for you, that you will pursue that too.

Your turn.

  1. If “faith+obedience =success” was the new standard to measure success in your business, what would you be doing differently?
  2. If without faith it’s impossible to please Him and faith without works is dead- is there anything you can identify that you know you should be doing but don’t trust and therefore haven’t taken action on? A financial investment, a risky business move, or maybe sharing your vision with someone else and getting accountability?
  3. Faith-ing ain’t easy. Join our group, use the #imnewhere hashtag and tell us where you’re at in your journey so we can connect and cheer you on or answer any q’s.
