hi, i'm samantha

If youā€™ve been riding the struggle bus wondering why your business isnā€™t growing or wondering why you believe Godā€™s promises but are swimming in a sea of doubt and confusion…keep reading to learn up on how to hack your mindset and dramatically change your business by walking forward in truth and obedience.

Disclaimer: This post is intended to challenge your beliefs, thoughts and feelings that are likely leading to the negative emotions and discontentment in your entrepreneurial journey. It is a post written from the perspective that sometimes our results in our business are directly related to our lack of obedience that comes from enemy-driven thoughts like fear and doubt. It is a post to spur you on towards obedient action regardless of your feelings.Ā  It is NOT intended to coerce you into working outside of God or moving forward in a period where God is asking you to wait, nor is it suggesting that in *your* strength you can do all things. Enjoy šŸ™‚

Ok, but first: Why is mindset important for entrepreneurs?

In short, mindset is important because the Bible says so. It speaks often to the power of our mind and thoughts and all scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching and reproof, Amen?

It is important because when our thoughts are not aligned with the truth, then we don’t (usually) experience or discern His will for us.

When our thoughts are out of alignment, we canā€™t experience the fruit of the spirit (love, peace patience, kindness, joy, etc) and instead experience things like doubt, confusion, fear, worry, etc…. and as a result, our action is not obedient to the truth.

SoĀ , letā€™s chat about how mindset works: the psychology of how our mindset impacts our results.Ā

Iā€™ll never forget the day I got this incredibly helpful diagram from my therapist explaining why I was getting the entrepreneur results I didnā€™t want…and why I kept having the same entrepreneur frustrations over and over (and OVER) again with myself.Ā

I immediately felt so much relief after she shared this scientific and more importantly, Biblical, explanation of the power of a mindset.Ā

In a nutshell, this diagram is essentially explaining that our results are driven by our actions and our actions are driven by the feelings, thoughts, and ultimately, the beliefs that we have.

So essentially, your actions are a direct result of the beliefs you have and as the Bible explains it, we need to change our thoughts in order to change our actions and get the results that are in line with His will for us.

ā€œDo not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know Godā€™s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

(New Living Translation, Romans 12:2 )

So how do you change or ā€œhackā€ your mindset for growth?

Basically, you need to get to the root of your belief and act on the truth instead of the lies youā€™re telling yourself.

Hereā€™s how I reverse engineer that diagram into a practical writing exercise to help you do just that:

  1. Address the result I seek to change or get clarity about what I want.
  2. Identify what action led to this result or what is causing me to not get what I want.
  3. Discern the feeling(s) that led to that action(s).
  4. Write out the specific thoughts that caused that feeling.
  5. State the belief that caused that thought.
  6. Challenge that belief with what the bible says, write it out and meditate and act on it.

Act like what you believe. Faith without works is dead.

– God

Example:

  1. I donā€™t want to fear finances. I want to make more money.
  2. Iā€™m not sure what to do to make more money so I havenā€™t taken any steps forward.
  3. Iā€™m scared to invest time or money in coaching resources or education.Ā
  4. ā€œWhat if I donā€™t make my money back?ā€. ā€œIā€™m not good at this partā€.
  5. Ā Iā€™ donā€™t believe that if I can successfully learn and implement this.

*Replace this lie with the truth: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). He will teach me what to say (Exodus 4:12). He will show me the way and make my paths straight (Proverbs 3: 5-6).

When you change or ā€œhackā€ your mindset to identify the false beliefs that are driving your day-to-day decisions, youā€™ll be able to recognize the lies youā€™re acting on, replace them with truth,  and walk forward in obedience.

šŸ’ƒEmbrace growth mindsets that say you are willing and ready to do what it takes to grow.

šŸ’ƒ Reject guilt, shame, and all toxic thoughts that arenā€™t pure and lovely.

šŸ’ƒRefuse to fear.Ā

Let us pray:

Father, we thank you for your Word and for medical professionals who can help us break down your wisdom into actionable steps for us. We pray that you would convict us when weā€™re not acting in obedience with your Truth and we pray that you would grant us the wisdom, strength, and perseverance to course correct and renew our minds so that we may be able to learn and experience your perfectly good and pleasing will for us.Ā

In Jesus name,

Amen.
