hi, i'm samantha

Because boring doesn’t engage your audience or sell and sometimes our creative juices just run dry, Amen? That’s why I’m sharing  8 fun marketing ideas to boost engagement and dolla bills for that next campaign or launch of yours.

These 8 fun marketing ideas for creatives to try will leave you inspired to promote that next announcement and having your readers ready to smack that buy button when you launch.

First, let me tell you WHY your marketing NEEDS to be fun. Have you ever heard of AIDA?? Gold star for you if so! If not, no worries- fun marketing ideas create AIDA and its basically an acronym that means:

  • Attention
  • Interest
  • Desire
  • Action

And here are the 4 steps your reader needs to go through before buying your product or service.

So back to why fun matters:

  1. Fun grabs a users attention.

Attention right out the gate in your marketing message is key because if you don’t hook your audience right away, the rest of your marketing message doesn’t even matter. Remember the Herbal Essences commercials of the girl “oohing” in the shower? Ya, that gets your attention pretty quickly amirite??

  1. Fun creates interest.

Now that you have your reader’s attention, engage them! Tell them how you’re solving their problems or what makes you different so you can relate to them and keep their interest. I mean, who would want Pantene shampoo that has a “standard shampoo” smell when you could have a botanical paradise that makes you scream “yes, yes, YES”  in the shower?? Now that’s what I call interesting!

  1. Fun creates desire.

A girls night out chatting about which flavor shampoo had their men chasing after them? I want THAT shampoo, Amen?? You can create a desire in your marketing message by showcasing testimonials (or crazy girl convo’s), offering limited time promos to create FOMO (aka scarcity tactic), or social proof (like how many others have signed up for your challenge, list, etc)  to make them really want your stuff!

  1. Fun makes your audience take action!

When you take your reader through a fun marketing experience, it makes pitching your offer easier and more successful. Close out your marketing message with reminding them how you’re solving their problem and your call to action. You can even make the offer more enticing by offering your special discount or bonus offer. #OprahStyle #AndYouGetaCar!

So now that you have the low down on why your marketing should be fun, let’s get to the fun marketing ideas part:

8 fun marketing ideas to try for your next launch, announcement, or marketing campaign.

1. CREATE A PERSONALITY QUIZ

People inherently are interested in themselves so give them what they want and engage them with a quiz so they can find out more about themselves! Are you a graphic designer? Create a quiz to figure out your reader’s brand personality. Give them some fun answers like “Sassy, Diva” and then serve them up with all the Sassy/Diva-licious tips you got!

Create “desire” by showcasing testimonials like “Sally got Sassy, Diva– what’s your brand style?? Find out to get tips catered just for you!”. Boom, you now have an email address you drop into your sales funnel new ones to send your official launch message to! PLUS, more insight into what kinds of readers are landing on your site so you can curate future content just for them. 🙌

2. TAKE A VOTE OR RUN A POLL FOR YOUR NEXT LAUNCH

Get your audience hype with a poll or vote before you launch. Bring them along for the journey and ask them would they rather see more of “this” or “that” in your next course. Then share the results with your crew and let them know what they can expect to see from you next.

3. RUN A SEASONAL OR TRENDY CAMPAIGN

Tapping into seasonality truly gets your reader in the spirit to take action on your campaign. Is it Christmas time? Try a ‘12 days of giveaways’ using your email list or to encourage followers to tune in live each day leading up to your launch. You don’t have to have a huge budget for this, it can be swipe files, checklists, promo codes for yourself, promo codes for your affiliate partners, or maybe even surprise guest speakers.

4. HOST A LIVE FACEBOOK OR INSTAGRAM SURPRISE OR POP UP SALE

Nothing grabs your viewers attention more than a big fat SURPRISE. Pop on Instagram or Facebook Live to surprise your audience with a guest speaker or a flash sale for a limited time. Encourage comments in the chat box to keep your users engaged with something like “the first person to respond with _____  gets a free ______.” Giveaways or bonus opportunities creates FOMO for the rest of your crowd tuning in. (aka “DESIRE”)

5. USE ANIMATED GIFS TO MAKE YOUR PAID ADVERTISING MORE FUN

If you run paid ads, you probably know by now that competition is crazy fierce. You need to grab the users attention ASAP in the feed to stop the scroll so try something fun like taking a series of images of yourself popping champagne and turn it into an animated giph (try Giphy- it’s my fave!) then make the image come full circle with text showcasing why your reader should be celebrating your new announcement alongside you.

6. COLLABORATE WITH A COMPLIMENTARY BUSINESS

Partnering with a complimentary business will build credibility for your brand and increase your overall reach for your next launch by having more than just you pitching your message. If you’re a beauty blogger, find an independent sales consultant like MaryKay or LipSense to co-host a Facebook Live with so both audiences see your promotion. If you’re a nutrition coach, try partnering with an organic food brand, yoga instructor, or Essential Oils distributor to give the full effect of a healthy lifestyle.

7. CREATE SHAREABLE CONTENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Create a specific hashtag for your campaign for others to join in and promote your brand. If you have an online course, ask your users to share a behind the scenes look or their success stories using your unique hashtag. You can make them even more pumped to use your hashtag by telling them to use your hashtag for a chance to be featured on your account or stories or maybe a chance to win something. Other shareable content ideas include creating fill-in-the-blank social media story templates like: “this or that?”, BINGO, Gif challenges, etc. Here’s a Valentine’s Day example.

Just be sure to put your social media handle on there so when people re-share it, you get the shout-out and extra visibility.

8. TRY A PAID VERSION OF INTERACTIVE MARKETING

If you have the dollars to spare, try something more fun and sophisticated like Shopify’s Spin-A-Saleinteractive pop-up. These ultra sophisticated widgets are guaranteed to boost your email sign up conversion rate and the more emails you get, the more eyeballs you get to land on your offer when you’re ready to release it to your list. Cha-Ching.

With these fun marketing ideas, you can skip the basic ‘Eat. Sleep. Post to social. Repeat.’ routine and have some actual fun knowing that you can get your audience(and self!) hype for your next promo knowing your readers are going to be ready to hit that “buy now!” button in a jiffy.
